Exploring What’s Next at Accountex London 2025
Last month we headed to Accountex at the ExCeL – a brilliant opportunity to explore what’s new and what’s next in the world of accounting. With over 300 software and service providers under one roof, plus a packed CPD-accredited education programme, the event delivered plenty of inspiration and practical takeaways.
We had helpful conversations with Companies House about their upcoming system changes, including two levels of ID authorisation – one of which will involve biometric checks. We’re pleased to say we’ll be offering this biometric service in-house, helping to keep your company reporting secure and efficient.
We also caught up with Xero – as proud Silver Partners, we can offer clients discounted monthly fees and support with quarterly reporting tools ahead of upcoming Making Tax Digital requirements. If you’re looking to switch to cloud accounting, we’re always happy to help.
Thinking About an R&D Claim? Consider Advance Assurance
If your business is carrying out Research & Development, it’s important to make sure your claim meets HMRC’s criteria. One way to gain peace of mind is by applying for Advance Assurance – a voluntary scheme for SMEs making their first R&D relief claim. It gives you clarity upfront on whether your claim is likely to be accepted, saving time and uncertainty later on. You’ll need to provide HMRC with a business plan and details of your innovative projects, but we can guide you through it. If you’d like help making a claim or applying for Advance Assurance, just get in touch: admin@richardrileyassociates.co.uk.

Richard’s Latest Adventure with Kith & Kids – Athens 2025
I’ve just returned from an unforgettable week in Athens with Kith & Kids – a charity that means a great deal to me. Along with 12 fellow volunteers and 3 fantastic coordinators, we supported 13 of the charity’s members on a cultural adventure filled with history, sunshine and plenty of laughter.
Some of the group have been part of Kith & Kids since they were children, and it’s always inspiring to see how everyone gets involved – from helping plan the itinerary and meals to supporting each other through new experiences. These trips are such a team effort, offering real independence for the members and much-needed respite for their families back home.
I always come back from these weeks feeling incredibly lucky – not only for the memories made and friendships formed, but for the fresh perspective they bring. If you’d like to find out more about the brilliant work Kith & Kids do, visit www.kithandkids.org.uk.
